fair enough; there was a recent comment by Hakkinnen, who I always thought was friends with Schumacher; he said, well, that he was never his friend, and that whether the problems are technical or with Schumacher himself, he has tainted his career and should've never come back.
Hindsight is 20/20, but at the time, he decided to come back with the champion team headed by Ross Brawn, with the full backing of Mercedes as a stand alone team ($). Sounded like a good bet to me as well.
At least he saved himself the embarrassment of trying to drive the dreary F60 while still rusty, which apparently only Räikkonen could drive.
That said, this season was Schumacher's worst ever, and that's a fact.
