I use XP at the office and OSX at home and have no problems with editing the same documents with office on both platforms.
we also have a couple of people in the office with Macbook Pro on our network and syching to the exchange server with entourage no problems.
I switched to Mac a year ago and I am like a reformed smoker, selling the Mac to anyone I meet. It is a night and day thing.
