I bought a Nikon D7000 and am very pleased with what it can do. With any camera you'll have to put in some time to learn how to use it. Most cameras these days are pretty good so you can't really go wrong with any middle DSLR camera whether it's Canon or Nikon.
Important thing is to learn how to use it.
