I know this b/c the guy she's dating now hates my guts b/c he found out about it and it hurt her. 
It kinda ticked me off since I've known her for 10years and he's dated her for 4mos.

I know a couple people who had the same thing happen. Once you violate boundaries of the "friend zone", even jokingly, and especially with something as serious as a proposal, things can get really strange really quickly.
