I can't disagree with this more. It is far far easier to beat the market with $5M than it is with $5B.
As a small investor you can invest in companies that are too small to have an impact on a mutual funds return. That is a huge advantage. You also can short which mut funds can't do.
Now as a small investor you lack the resources to do the sort of research that a large fund can do.
