I went down to Gainesville, Florida for my brother's open heart surgery (he's doing very well) and I took the opportunity to go to Payne's Prairie, a wildlife refuge only 10-miles out of town. I saw hawks, vultures, bald eagles, great egrets, great blue herons, grebes, sandhill cranes and other interesting wild things. Most fun of all, for me, was the wild turkey. There was a flock of around 30 that let me get within 50-feet. I've seen wild turkeys before, but this was the first time that I got something other than tail feathers. Here's a majestic Tom that seemed to pose for me:
