"Detuning" a turbocharged car really doesn't work. Because all that is necessary is a "retuning" of it's ECU to bring it back up to "normal" and match the GT-R's output.
Nissan would never allow the 370Z to match it's new upcoming flagship and legendary iconic "super" car.
What Nissan needs is an entry level V6.
Say a 3.0 liter with about 225 hp.
Then they could make a "base" 300Z that sells for $25-26K
They could also drop that engine into the base Altima and keep the 2.5 liter for the Sentra.

The Z wouldn't compete with the GTR regardless of whether or not it had similar HP. It's the same argument that everyone on this forum uses about the 335 and M3 and it still isn't true. There is a lot more to a car than a horsepower rating.
