I believe the latter is true. They will shrink the car, which I think they will have to do if they want to sell it globally. 12-15" sounds about right, since the current Mustang is a huge boat and needs some downsizing anyway.

Also, increasing the use of high strength steel/ultra-high strength steel can the lower the weight and not raise the cost very much.
