OEM rubber is not necessarily the same. Car companies make deals with tire companies to meet certain special requirements... fuel econ or performance. They run them during prototype and calibration phases. Makes tire companies accountable if something goes wrong during production (ie they get a spec). A lot of times it doesn't jive exactly with something the tire company already sells, so they just brand it something already made to avoid unnecessary confusion. This is standard practice.
