I lived in the West Village in the early 90's. Crack was rampant, crime was off the charts and we had a loser do nothing(Dinkins) mayor. Wife and I owned a business then, one of my firearms got me out of a bad jam one night going to a bank drop. "Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"
Im sure cooking the books goes on everywhere in every city but its a small %. The City is much better now than I can ever remember. Violent crimes are down a ton.
