I haven't heard too much about VRM's, are they recommended? Where do they fall in terms of quality?
I really like the HRE's but my local tire guy is pushing me to get the 19" Vossen. He's telling me it won't be a comfortable ride and cost way more for tires. Unfortunately the FF10's start at 20".
If I chose to go with 19" Vossen (8.5”, 9”, 9.5", 10", 10.5") what size should I get?
For the 20" HRE's, The sales rep suggested:Fronts - 20x8.5 ET30
Rears - 20x9.5 ET42, is this a good fitment? 
Its for a 440i Xdrive with the adaptive suspension and hasn't been lowered.

VMR has had problems in the past with custom special colors flaking off. i rate them average but affordable.
if Vossen, 19x8.5 ET30, 19x9.5 ET40 with 235/40/19 & 265/35/19 for xdrive
if HRE, the sales rep suggested the correct specs. tire size for xdrive, 235/35/20 & 275/30/20, or 265/35/20 if not available.
imo, your local tire guy advice is spot on, i'd get 19" Vossen
all your meshy type choices will be difficult to clean and keep clean, jus sayin'..
even if less practical, you should get what you want, though. you want the feeling of "Yesssss" with no regret, when you look at your car ^^
